Privacy policy
We collect the least we can to run the studio and bill it — no third-party ad trackers, no selling data, no profile-building. Generation itself never leaves your browser unless you press render or save. This page says exactly what we store, why, and for how long.
The short version
Septet resolves a tune in your browser, from a seed. Nothing about a tune you're rolling reaches our servers until you choose to save it (we store the seed) or render a chiptune voice (the request passes through our server). We keep your email so you can sign in, your saved seeds so we can rebuild your tunes, and the counts we need to enforce a plan's limits — and not much else. We never sell your data and we run no third-party advertising trackers.
What we collect
Here is everything Septet stores about you, why we hold it, and how long we keep it. If a row isn't here, we don't collect it.
| Data | Why we collect it | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Account email | Sign-in and sending receipts | until you delete |
| Display name | Naming you in the studio (optional) | until you delete |
| Saved seeds | Rebuilding the tunes you keep | until you delete |
| Payment token | Billing — held by Stripe, never by us | per Stripe |
| Usage counts | Enforcing the plan's seed and seat limits | 12 months |
| Server logs | Keeping the render endpoints up and fair | 30 days |
How we use it
We use what we collect only to run the service you asked for: to sign you in and send receipts, to rebuild the tunes you saved, to keep the plans fair by counting usage against their limits, and to keep the render endpoints up. We don't build advertising profiles, and we don't make automated decisions about you. We never sell or rent your data to anyone.
Who we share it with
A short list of processors does specific jobs for us, and only those jobs: Stripe handles payments (it holds your card; we never see it), our email provider sends sign-in and receipt mail, and our hosting provider runs the servers. Each is bound to use your data only to provide its service to us. We also disclose data if the law genuinely requires it — and we'll tell you when we're allowed to.
Cookies
We set only the cookies the studio needs to work: a session cookie that keeps you signed in and remembers your light/dark preference. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and no analytics that follow you off Septet. Because there's nothing to consent to beyond the essentials, there's no cookie wall.
How long we keep it
The retention column above is the whole story. Your email, display name and saved seeds stay until you delete them or your account; usage counts roll off after twelve months; server logs are kept 30 days for reliability and abuse-prevention, then discarded. Billing records we must keep for tax purposes are the one exception, held only as long as the law requires.
Your rights
You can export or delete everything from the account sheet at any time, and deletion is real — we don't keep a shadow copy. Depending on where you live you also have the right to access, correct, or object to our use of your data, and to complain to your local data-protection authority. Write to privacy@septet.audio and a person answers.
Contact
Questions about your data, or to exercise any of the rights above, go to privacy@septet.audio. We answer in plain language, and a person reads it.
